On Sunday morning, just before dawn, two Israeli Merkava tanks destroyed the main gate of a military base and forcibly entered it. After the attack on the gates, only 100 yards away, shells were detonated releasing gas and, “sickening U.N. Personal”. [1]
This is not the first time the Israeli Occupying Forces had used chemical weapons in the past year. Last October 31st, Amnesty International had reported that the IOF had deployed white phosphorus in Southern Lebanon. [2] While White Phosphorus has not been explicitly banned as the chemical can protect personnel through its use as a smoke screen, white phosphorous still can cause immense harm, injury, and even death to civilians - especially when a military force uses it in a densely populated area such as Southern Lebanon or the Gaza Strip. [3]
To this day, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz upholds his October 2nd decision to bar the Secretary-General of the United Nations from entering the nation, because of the Secretary-General’s alleged refusal to condemn the Iranian missile strikes on Israel on October 1st. The Secretary-General has, in fact, condemned the strikes. [4]
