French Politics Are, Unsurprisingly, Still A Sh#t Show

Ever since the appointment of the homophobic and Islamophobic Prime Minister Michel Barnier, with the blessing of the fascist Marrie Le Pen, France has been in turmoil. Many in the French left have labeled the appointment as nothing more than normalization of the far-right. PM Barnier has supported a three-to-five-year cessation of migration to the EU, the return of compulsory military service, and army patrols in communities where the police are said to have “lost control.” Barnier’s appointment comes in a time of extreme fiscal instability as the EU is pressuring France to alleviate the outstanding debt left over from stimulus packages distributed during the COVID-19 Pandemic. [1]
